Thank you

I do hope everyone enjoyed their break. I would like to congratulate and thank those teachers who offered extra seminars for the Year 12 students during their holidays. My last count revealed over 30 seminars scheduled during the break and I have been informed that many teachers were also receiving and sending feedback of practice papers and essays. CCGS is indeed blessed with an inspiring and dedicated group of professionals. They also spent the entire first day this term engrossed in professional learning and meaningful collaboration between teachers from Kindy to Year 12. I know that our Year 12 students in particular, acknowledge the support on offer to them on a daily basis.

Vice Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence

Congratulations to Dr Kylie McIntyre for receiving the Vice-Chancellors Award for Teaching Excellence at Newcastle University.  It was a pleasure and honour to attend the graduation ceremony to see Dr McIntyre receive this well-earned award.

This recognition is the result of a student nomination who was graduating this year and paid special tribute to the positive impact that Dr McIntyre has had on her education.

Year 11 Subjects for 2014

All Year 10 students have completed a session to briefly start the process of subject selection for next year. I would remind those students who have not yet completed Workbook 1 to do so. Students were asked to:

  • Consider their academic strengths
  • Consider their possible future aspirations
  • Learn more about the requirements for HSC and University Entrance
  • Reflect and identify how they might achieve their potential=

Community Service Project

All of the students in Year 10, with the exception of our exchange students, should have completed the mandatory Community Service Project. The next step for the students is for them to construct a PowerPoint presentation on their project for presentation to their House Family later this term. The students must upload their presentation to Moodle by Friday August 2. A template for this presentation may be found on Moodle.

Year 10 Expedition

This year’s expedition will be held from Tuesday August 6 until Friday August 9 during Week 4 of term. Students were expected to have completed their permission forms and activity preferences by Wednesday of this week. Mr Horsley will be meeting again with the students early next week to discuss final details with the students and inform them of their activity groups for the expeditions.
