Tabitha Foundation House Building Project 2013

Thanks to the generosity of the Central Coast Grammar School community we have once again reached our target of $20,000 for this year’s Tabitha Foundation House Building Project.  A special thank you to Mrs Leah Knight and Mrs Jennifer Waddington (and their families) for their outstanding contribution throughout the fundraising period. With the recent substantial donations from Harvey World Travel Erina and Matcham Capital (Lenton Family), we will now be able to construct another twelve houses in rural Cambodia. In total, Central Coast Grammar School has been involved in the construction of 70 houses over the past 8 years. We sincerely thank all of our sponsors and look forward to their continued support for this wonderful program.

The tour group, consisting of twenty five Year 11 students and 5 Staff, departs on Saturday 14th September and returns on Sunday 29th September 2013. We wish them a safe and exciting trip in Cambodia and Vietnam.

Collection of Exercise Books

The Central Coast Grammar School community is always so generous when it comes to our annual collection of items for the Sunrise Children’s Village and this year will be no different I’m sure! It is fantastic that we can include everyone from Kindergarten to Year 12 in this part of our Cambodia fundraising. Last year we concentrated on collecting personal hygiene items, like toothpaste, toothbrushes, hair ties and soaps. This year the Sunrise Children’s Village has requested lined EXERCISE BOOKS. The tour students will carry these exercise books in their luggage when they travel to Cambodia next school holidays. It is always a wonderful sight to see the happy faces of the children when they receive these items from our Year 11 students.

Collection of the exercise books will occur during rollcall time over the next two weeks. There will also be a box located in the Main Admin office.

Exciting News – Sunrise Children’s Village Study Tour 2013

After eighteen months of planning, we are pleased to announce that during Weeks 6-9 this term we will be hosting four children from the Sunrise Children’s Village Cambodia. The two girls and two boys will be attending classes, excursions and sporting activities while they are here at the School. The children will be home staying with CCGS families. Geraldine Cox, Founder of Sunrise Children’s Village, will also be visiting the school this term on Thursday 5th September. We are hosting an afternoon tea for her on that day and we invite any interested people to join us. Geraldine will be sharing stories about her life and work in Cambodia. A flyer will come home shortly with more details.

We would like to thank everyone that has been involved in the fundraising over the last 9 months. Your financial support will allow us to build 12 houses in a desperately poor Cambodian village and to provide a substantial donation to the Sunrise Children’s Village for food.
